4.17 Nowgong

4.17
 Nowgong

In November 1835, as the shades of evening lengthened William Griffith quickened his pace, and at last when it became dark, came up with the coolies in a most rugged road. When it was dark, after stumbling about a good deal, he made his way to the foot of the descent, and reached a small stream.
There he made preparations for a halt, and passed the night, during which he was treated with a slight shower of rain[156].  As the season was far advanced, he escaped scot-free from fever and reached the Bungalow called Nowgong about 10 o'clock the next morning, where he spent the day. Beyond Nowgong, saul first came into view, and many trees attained a considerable size.
